MARItime engineering

ELU has consolidated our expertise in design and investigations for marine engineering projects in a new department – ELU Marin.
ELU Marin provides design solutions and investigations for different types of marintime engineering projects such as quays, locks, mooring posts, harbour facilities, berths, fenders, piers, jetties, scour protection and fish ways. We further perform facility condition assessments, life cycle assessments, inspections and cost estimations.
ELU has worked on maritime engineering projects since the early 1970s. In order to highlight this technical field and expand our expertise, we are consolidating our knowledge into a new department.
“This effort is in line with market demand. Quays are refurbished into residential areas, hydro power stations are modified and adapted to handle the environment by creating fish ways, and several industrial harbours have major maintenance needs,” says Dan Svensson, Head of Department for ELU Marin.
Maritime engineering is an area that requires a lot of experience in both planning and execution. The projects are often complex and an understanding of design, cost efficiency and sustainable engineering solutions in a maritime environment is the key factor for success. ELU’s engineers have developed their professional expertise in marine engineering projects over a long period of time.
ELU is currently working on a number of projects within maritime engineering. The assignments cover everything from minor assessments to the Slussen project in Stockholm. Other projects to highlight include port of Oxelösund, port of Norrvik, Liljeholmskajen quay, port of Ulvsunda (Pripps) and Kvarnholmen (Marieholm udde).
